Häufige Anwendungsfälle sind: 
- jedes Verfahren, das nicht als Teil einer Konsultation aufgezeichnet wird, sondern als eigenständige Aktivität durchgeführt werden muss; 
- Endoskopie-Bericht; bis hin zu einem 
- vollständiger Operationsbericht für eine Laparatomie oder einen Gelenkersatz.

Die Erfassung des Anästhetikums, das zur Abdeckung des Eingriffs verwendet wurde, wird anhand von zweckgebundenen Archetypen dokumentiert. Sie können gleichzeitig mit dem Verfahrensbericht in die Gesundheitsakte aufgenommen werden und zwar höchstwahrscheinlich auf eine von zwei Arten:
- in einem separaten Anästhesiebericht. Dies gilt am ehesten, wenn die Anästhesie von einem anderen Arzt als dem ausführenden Arzt verabreicht wurde; oder
- im gleichen Prozedurenbericht wie die Prozedur aufgezeichnet wurde. Dies gilt am ehesten, wenn die Narkose von demselben Arzt verabreicht wurde, der den Eingriff durchgeführt hat.
